SV Middle School Float Themes: 6th Grade - Camping 7A & 7B - Jungle 7C & 7D - Tropical Beach 8th Grade (2 Floats) - U.S.A. Decorating will take place Thursday starting at 5:00pm at the SV Bus Garage. Basic decorations will be supplied (streamers, posters, banner, etc).

Thank you to the volunteers for donating the flatbed trailers and pickup trucks for next week's homecoming parade. We have enough committed for our middle school students to have homecoming floats for each grade! All middle school students are welcome to help with decorating their grade's float(s) on Thursday, September 16th starting at 5:00 pm. All the flatbeds will be decorated at the Sioux Valley bus garage. We are looking for more parent volunteers to help with decorating and supervising. SV Booster Club is hosting a Homecomming Tailgate Meal on Friday, September 17th at 5:15 pm. Freewill donations will be taken, hamburgers and hotdogs, watermelon, and dessert will be served courtesy of the SD National Guard.

This #ThankfulThursday shout out goes to Mrs. Doyscher, our SVMS special education teacher. Mrs. Doyscher was the first recipient of our monthly Spark Plug award for a staff member that is a "spark" of joy and a champion for students. Thank you for all you do for our students!

The SV staff had the privilege of hearing from Florence Superintendent Mitch Reed about the little things in life that make all the difference. (Hint-It's the people!) Thank you for inspiring our staff about true power that comes from caring for and caring about others.

Sept 2nd- MS Cross Country at Brookings has been cancelled today due to the weather. JV Boys Golf at Brookings has been postponed today due to the weather. Make up date TBA.

Research tells us that missing just two days of school per month can negatively impact student achievement. Last year, the number of South Dakota students missing 30 or more days of school doubled. The start of a new school year is a great time to remind ourselves about the importance of consistent school attendance. Thank you in advance for your partnership with good attendance!
